In order to get businesses successfully survive, in the latest economic woes they must find ways to improve customer satisfaction. Here are a few ideas to get things rolling:
1. Strengthen your online presence through customer review sites. Having a strong online presence is important, especially for companies who rely on word of mouth and the positive reviews of others to bring in new business. While it doesn't work for all companies, consider offering an incentive to your customers for writing positive reviews of your company on review sites (i.e. Yelp). They can add pictures, comment on the business, their experience, the service, atmosphere, etc. The more positive reviews you have regarding your business, the more likely people are to give your business a chance as they are searching online. For example, if you are an Italian restaurant in a certain city or neighborhood, offer a 25% off your next purchase incentive for customers to review your business on Yelp. As your business gains more positive reviews, people looking for an Italian restaurant in your city or neighborhood will likely give you a try due to the reviews of others.
2. Improve customer service. By ensuring that your customers know they are first and foremost on your mind, you'll not only be improving customer satisfaction and loyalty, but you'll ultimately be improving your business. Get to know your customers and what they need. Address these needs specifically and on an individual basis. Ask for their input and suggestions, implement those ideas and tell them about the changes you've made. Make yourself available to answer their questions and concerns. If you are going to be away for an extended period of time, hire a virtual receptionist to answer their calls and questions. Hold regular promotions and incentives to show them that you appreciate their business and recognize that your success is due in part to the business they bring to your
company.
3. Make changes internally. Making a few small changes internally can make a world of difference on how your business looks and interacts on the outside. Begin by organizing every aspect of your business. This can take time and is often tedious, but the positive effects are endless. Organize your staff, your calendar, your contacts, your suppliers, your warehouse, your closets, your communication avenues, etc. These things all effect how your business is driven. Redesign your website, your advertisements, your business cards and your office. Small changes to your appearance can have drastic effects on how others view your business.
